Skypilot Wireless Network Training
Posted by jojo in Technology on March 12th, 2009
Last July 2008, we had a training on Skypilot Wireless Networks at Taguig City, Manila. Me and our Technical Operation Supervisor of auza.net, Engineer Junrey Obeñita were luckily chosen to attend the training. The training includes the configuration of the skypilot wireless equipments and wireless networks monitoring. SkyPilot Networks is the leading provider of carrier-class wireless mesh solutions that enable service providers, municipalities, and public safety agencies to rapidly deploy cost-effective broadband access, voice over IP, public and private Wi-Fi access, video surveillance, and other wireless applications. The SkyPilot solution utilizes a patent-pending synchronous mesh architecture with high-speed switched directional antenna arrays that extends reach, mitigates interference, and maximizes spectral reuse. The result is a highly scalable, reliable, and deterministic mesh network that simplifies design, increases deployment flexibility, and dramatically reduces equipment and operating costs. SkyPilot has proven scalability and reliability with over 200 customers in more than 40 countries.
In the training, they introduced and show how to configure their wireless equipments. The wireless equipments includes, Sky Gateway, Sky Extender and Sky connector and Sky Access Dual Band. The SkyGateway™ series is a carrier-class mesh base station that provides capacity injection by connecting the wireless mesh network to the Internet. Deploying Sky-Gateways easily scales thenetwork to meet application demands. The SkyExtender™ series is a highly scalable mesh device that provides an easy, elegant way to expand coverage of the wireless mesh. SkyConnector™ is a cost eff ective outdoor customer premise equipment (CPE) for service providers deploying last mile services to business or residential broadband subscribers. SkyAccess™ DualBand is specifically designed to cost eff ectively expand 2.4 GHz coverage at the edge of a public Wi-Fi network, and infi ll to optimize modulation performance where a full mesh node is not justified.
They also introduced and discuss the configuration of their new software, sky control, which is the monitoring software of skypilot networks. SkyControl™ is a comprehensive element management system (EMS) that offers network administrators a robust range of provisioning and monitoring management options, including fault management, performance tuning and monitoring, reporting, and alarming. These essential tools help SkyPilot customers sustain subscriber satisfaction when deploying complex citywide broadband wireless networks. SkyControl integrates Google Earth™ mapping service to provide unparalleled dynamic network visualization that greatly enhances the preparation and updating of network diagrams. Sky Control can be installed in Linux and Windows Operating System.
I learned so many things in our training, I learned how to configure and setup those said wireless equipments and the installation of their monitoring software. And lastly, i already applied those learnings. Thanks for the sponsors.

Me & Me
Hello I’m jojo, welcome to my blog. I am an electronics and communication engineering graduate. I love blogging. Blogging and blogging. You know what, i have learned that through blogging, we can earn money. I have a mentor that had already received money through blogging. Blogging and blogging. Thats why i like IT industry. I like to create website. I like to configure IT equipments. I configured wireless equipment (skypilot wireless), routers, switches and etc. I also installed voip servers using open source software. I installed networks and more. For some tips on blogging and webiste development try this link Mixtutorials.
